Taboo:
Behavior that is beyond the moral limits of cultural norms.

Tampon:
An absorbent product that is placed inside the vagina to soak up menstrual fluid. They are available with different levels of absorbency for heavy, medium, and light flow. See Sex FAQ page 15 for info on how to insert a tampon. (about half way down the page).

Testes:
One of two male reproductive glands, which produce sperm and the hormone testosterone. (The two round organs inside the scrotum). Plural of testicle.

Testicle:
One of two male reproductive glands, which produce sperm and the hormone testosterone. (Plural: testes).

Testosterone:
A male sex hormone, which causes the development of secondary sexual characteristics.

Toxic Shock Syndrome:
A rare, but potentially serious disease that has been associated with tampon use. TSS is believed to be caused by toxin-producing strains of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. The warning signs of TSS are: a sudden fever of 102° F/38.9° C or more, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, dizziness and fainting, or near fainting, when standing up. See TSS for more…

Transgender:
Women and men who dress in the clothing associated with the other gender because they enjoy being treated as if they were of the other gender‹not for sexual pleasure.

Transsexuals:
Women and men who fully identify themselves as the gender other than their biological one.

Transvestites:
Women and men who dress in clothing associated with people of the other gender because it gives them sexual pleasure.

Transvestophilia:
A paraphilia in which sexual arousal becomes dependent on wearing clothing, especially underwear, associated with the other gender.

TSE:
Testicular self-exam. See: TSE

Tubal ligation:
Surgical blocking of the fallopian tubes. Used as a permanent method of birth control, also known as sterilization.
