drug experiences

Okay, this is your chance to talk about your use of drugs, (yes, that includes alcohol too). Other readers want to know what you really think about drugs and should illicit drugs be legalized or not. This means for recreational purposes, not medicinal ones. I know how many people write me to tell me what they think, now share that with other teens or parents of teens too. People want to hear from you. Just think of it as a message board kind of, but better because no one will flame you for your opinion in here and I will print all that I get, so this will not be ‘slanted’.

(Now some legal bull). Coolnuse.com is not responsible for any statements made here and we are not encouraging the use of recreational drugs, but since they are being used, this might inform some people. We are also not responsible for any copyright infringement. Thanks.

If you would like to contribute email me. You can be anonymous of course. This page will be an ongoing page, so stop by to see what’s new. I will try to post your information several times a week. ~ Amy ~

Ecstasy and Club Drugs. – from Carly – Student at the University of Arizona, USA

The number of deaths of ravers is amazingly low considering the overcrowded nature of clubs and the number of people taking substances produced under dubious conditions every weekend. The primary drugs of choice in the rave culture that I am familiar with are (MDMA) – Ecstasy and LSD (acid). Neither one of these drugs are toxic in the quantities normally consumed in a club setting, yes, I have done some research on this. The deaths associated with their use are generally tied to other drugs and or other environmental factors, like really hot conditions of raves or the heat of Arizona as I have witnessed.

While the neurological impact of Ecstasy is the subject of ongoing study, the most immediate physical effects of ecstasy use are an increase in heart rate and heavy perspiration. Among healthy people who have consumed no other substances, dehydration, heat stroke, or water intoxication are generally the cause of death. Unfortunately, ecstasy and acid are not the only drugs consumed by ravers. In fact, many of the tablets taken as ecstasy are a cocktail of related substances and other stimulants (amphetamine, ephedrine, caffeine). So, please be careful if you take Ecstasy or any other club drug. Thanks for listening. – Carly

When I was 13 years old I began to use marijuana. I heard from different people how weed was this and that. So, the more I heard about it the more I wanted to try it. I first started to smoke weed with my aunt, sister, and my cousin. Then I just started to smoke with anyone who wanted to smoke. Smoking weed seemed like the best feeling in the world. I really enjoyed getting high and I could actually function fairly well on it. By age 15, weed was my new best friend.

When I would smoke with my family — my brother, sister and aunt, I would feel so relaxed and good, that nothing else in the world seemed to matter. I thought that smoking weed was okay since many of my family members and people at my school smoked. Nothing ever happened to them. At one point I started smoking weed a lot more during lunch and after school. I never thought too much of it just that I wanted to smoke. Not that it was actually taking over my mind and body. Then I began to mess up in school. I would cut classes, come home late and spend all my baby-sitting money. I would spend at least 8 to 18 dollars a day, and I would only get 30 dollars a week. I never thought twice that marijuana had an impact on those things. Maybe me coming to class high was the reason I was failing or coming home late, I thought it was just me being lazy and hardheaded .

As I continued to smoke pot, I began to notice that I would always have the urge to smoke. Was I becoming addicted to it? I thought weed wasn’t addictive! All this smoking weed had become a BIG issue in my life. I needed to slow down. I think the ‘addiction thing’ runs in my family and that I would become addicted to cigarettes if I smoked those or if I drank, but I don’t.

Now that I’ve learned more about marijuana, I’ve reduced the amount of marijuana that I use. I don’t want drugs to be the first priority in my life. I’m not smoking everyday, and not spending as much money. Now that I have cut down on my habit, I am saving more money. I’m ready to go back to school and do good, so that I can make something of myself. My advice to other young women is basically to inform them that marijuana is not everything that it’s hyped up to be. Everyone is always saying how weed stimulates your mind and how it solves problems. I think it only brings more problems. Marijuana is not good for your body or your brain. I’m not trying to tell you not to smoke, I’m just letting you know that marijuana can be hazardous to your health, and in the long it run may cause some long term negative effects. Help yourself now, before it is too late. I don’t want to lecture anyone, just share my experience with you. I do still smoke, but not as often. (I am now 17 and live in the USA, my name is Marla)

Marijuana Use

I’ve been smoking weed for almost three years now, and not every once in a while, like every day (give or take 20 days or so). I began when I was thirteen because I was depressed and as time went buy I began to get more and more happy to be alive, I started to paint and write poetry when I was high, even when I wasn’t high, I saw things in a different light. I conquered my insecurities about myself and became more outgoing, I don’t ever feel like I have to smoke, sometimes going days without it and smoking just because it was there. Sure I want to smoke sometimes but that doesn’t make me dependent. When you enjoy something such as a beverage (e.g.: mountain dew) you crave it because you like it not because you HAVE to have it, therefore there are no withdraw symptoms. You don’t feel week or irritable when you don’t smoke, and if you are irritable when you don’t smoke-you were probably irritable before you began smoking. I don’t regret starting to smoke weed, it has never had a negative effect on me in the slightest, I even will go as far as to say that I will most likely continue to smoke throughout my adult years unless something awful happens (like I become slightly fiendish fo da dank) but I’ll keep you updated…hmm..slightly high, its 4:19, got a minute? From Anonymous, USA

My name is Leah and I smoke pot about twice a week, I would actually smoke it more if it weren’t so expensive where I live, I live in Boston, not in the ‘burbs’. I like to smoke with my friends, we are all honor students and while we are stoned we are able to reach a different level — if you will — or plateau that we don’t seem to get to straight. We discuss politics and our homework while stoned, we never get into a car, we use the subway system here anyway (the T). This is a huge college town and I have seen students walking down the street while smoking weed, I think the cops here are too busy with more important matters.

I also play the piano and write music. Some of the best music I have written I have done while high. My parents know I smoke, I think they know, they smoked plenty when they were my age, but I know they don’t do it now. They have said to me if I want to smoke weed, okay, but not in their house and if I get busted… then that’s my problem, not theirs. They said they would rather I get high than drink and be a stupid drunk or smoke cigarettes. That is my experience, I will be a senior in high school next year, I attend a private school and I think kids here smoke as much as any where else, but there isn’t a lot of ‘hard’ drugs here, no meth or crack, although if you want it you can always find someone, that’s just the way of the world. Thanks. – Leah –

Hi, my name’s Barry and I come from England. Not so long ago (about a year) I changed schools, from a private school to a boarding school. I changed friends, and with this change of friends came a change of scene. I had reverted from my days in the pub with my mates, to listening to drum and bass, smoking pot and raving. This is where I had my first experience of taking E. It was a bit heavy to begin with (because of the rave atmosphere) but after I came Ò up it was amazing, I found that I loved the music more, and my relationship with my new friends grew a whole lot better, it even helped me to sort out one or two mental problems! But with the good comes the bad. The come down can be awful but it does get better after a few times of taking Ecstasy. The come down does give feelings of depression and awkwardness but you get used to it, and it does get better. I do recommend anyone to try it as it is good fun, but don’t get pressured into it, do it of your own accord and you’ll have a better time on it. Also ensure that you have plenty of friends with you that are doing it and some that aren’t. Be careful don’t get heavily mottled pills or pills with no pictures on, and be safe!!!!! -BAZZA-

My name is Amanda , I’m 16 years old and I live in Canada. When I was 15 I was an honors students that participated in my school fully. I seemed like one of the kids that had everything going for me . Drugs never seemed to had crossed my mind so I really wasn’t against them or for them in anyway. Well one night I was with some friends and that was the first night I had ever been around chemical drugs . My friends were doing Crystal Meth. I knew that things like cocaine, crack, heroin and ecstasy were extremely bad for you ,but I didn’t know anything about Crystal. So I decided to give it a try, everyone else seemed to like it a lot.

My life began to spin out of control in a downward spiral soon I was doing up to an eight ball (3 and a half grams), my mom didn’t understand what was happening to me ( I lost 30 pound in less than 3 weeks) and I looked like hell. I didn’t think that she was trying to help ,so I moved away from home. Then I decided that I didn’t like school anymore because I wasn’t with my other meth-head friends all the time. Everything got so out of control so quickly, and that is always how it happens with meth.

I saw other peoples lives turn from everything ot nothing because of Crystal meth ! This made me step back and look at what I was doing to myself. I was 15, not living at home, not in school and I had no job. My health was quickly deteriorating and everything felt as if it was a chore. I was going no where with my life. I decided one day that I was going to quit. It wasn’t just quitting the drug , it was quitting the whole life that comes with it ,the people and the best friends you thought you had made. I count myself as one of the lucky ones became I had no physically withdrawals like a lot of people have. It was hard but it was so worth it. I’ve been clean of of Jib for almost 10 months and I have never had the temptation to do it again. I hear of the “epidemic” that is happening in the USA (Spokane area) and my heart truly goes out to those who are involved! Please get help if you have a meth problem….it will save your life! – Amanda, Alberta Canada –

I decided to go to my friend’s house to smoke some marijuana I’d been saving up, and when I got there we smoked quite a bit, and behind his house past the fence, they were working on the road, and we wanted to make it more ‘trippy’ by errmm.. ‘borrowing’ some of these the construction lights, (they turn on when it’s dark and flash every second), so me and one of my friends (there were 3 of us, the person who lived in the house stayed there) and we walked over, he ran out to the street, grabbed it, and we were going to walk to the fence to his back yard and throw it over the fence, and just as we were almost there, *honk* a construction guy in a truck is at the road, my friend takes off jumping over the fence, and I was a little too stupid at the moment to realize I needed to run, and I finally decided to run once I saw him get out, I am a very bad fence climber though, so I did not make it in time and I just decided to walk away, he said something to me, but I couldn’t understand, when I got back to the house….I hate to say it but I thought it was pretty funny. – From ‘D’, USA
